Growing up I never considered farming. It was too small town for me. Until I moved to a small town and married a local. (Classic Hallmark.)

At some point we got backyard chickens and something clicked. I loved being more connected to nature's rhythms. But our family outgrew our home and we had to pause our homestead dreams.

Where the dream began

But I never lost the desire to cultivate land and connect deeper to nature's rhythms again. However, a traditional homestead or farm didn't feel exactly right.

It all started to click when I learned about our generational connection to peonies. They were my late grandpa's favorite flower and he always had them in his yard. And apparently my great grandpa and several generations of grandpas before him also loved and grew peonies.

I can't help but feel that my grandpas have been nudging me and cheering me on to do the same again.

The process is part of the fun! Getting your hands dirty, taking care of their needs, being outside, and then enjoying the creations. It is LIFE.

I could do this for myself, but friendship drives me more than just about anything. So I'm sharing the journey so I have incredible friendships to share this space with.
